About Us

Our philosophy

Our philosophy is very play-based with hints of Reggio Emila and Montessori mixed in. While we have a daily routine, our time is spent following the children’s lead. Our curriculum is solely based on the children’s current interests, which we are able to build and expand upon. Our child-centered approach fosters their natural curiosity for learning and nurtures exploration of their environment. Our focus is on the whole child; their well-being emotionally, socially, and developmentally.

 

 

 

Julie Smith, Director

I have spent over fifteen years in the field of child development, both as a teacher and as a director of a large center. Throughout my career, I have worked with toddlers through school-aged children. While I know all phases of childhood to be special and magical, I have found my true love to be working with preschoolers. I find that working with a variety of philosophies- such as open-ended play-based, Reggio Emilia, and Montessori- leads to perfect harmony and autonomy. I strive to meet and exceed the children’s needs and curiosity each and every day
